Relationships Workshops
Dr Nicky Jacobs and Mr Nathan Kotler will be running a 3-week intensive workshop series for couples. The sessions are run on separate nights for men and for women. The same content and excersises will be presented each week to the men and women. The workshops will cover foundations for a strong marital relationship, and will involve practical skills, discussion and role play in order to integrate the skills learned for greatest impact. Dates:
Women: Sundays May 11, 18 and 25
Men: Wednesdays May 14, 21 and 28.
All sessions run from 7:30pm - 9:30pm in the Herzog Library.

The workshop is being offered at a subsidised rate of $200 per couple and $100 per single for 6 hours of intense guidance and skill building with highly skilled professionals, in a small group setting.

THEME: Understanding the foundations of healthy relationships
Trust and intimacy on all levels
The role of personal needs - yours and others
Dealing with your own feelings and the feelings of others.
Relationships with parents and other family members
Decision making
Time spent as a couple
Financial realities.
Making room for personal expression for both partners within the relationship.
Workshop 2:
THEME: Healthy ways to communicate: Improving communication and emotional well-being.
Move into being more accessible, emotionally responsive, and deeply engaged with each other
Strategies to recognize negative dialogue- learning how to make sense of each other in a positive way
Learn how to approach conversations in order to strengthen your bond and begin to
fully trust
Learn how emotional connection creates greater intimacy, and greater intimacy creates deeper emotional connection.
Workshop 3:
THEME: Strategies for building stronger marriages.
Dealing with your own inner conflicts and conflict with others; gaining insight into
emotional patterns that might exist in relationship conflicts
Implications of stress and anger (bottle it up and blow, or withdraw)
Find the raw spots: Look beneath the surface of impulsive reactions to reveal the raw spots underneath.
Soften conflicts and repair rifts to build emotional connection and trust.
The nature and meaning of anger: recognising triggers, managing responses.
Learn how, and make your own plan, to continue to maintain and build your connection as time goes on.
